Tecvac was founded in 1981 by the owners of the Torvac Group to exploit the vacuum coating equipment market, In 1985 Tecvac moved in the sub-contract coating business running alongside the by now successful machinery manufacturing department. the Ion Implantation process was added to both sides of the business in 1989. The company was owned by Shell UK between 1989 and 1990, and then bought back by working Directors.

Tecvac continued to expand the sub-contract coating business through the early 90's. In 1997 the company was acquired by theWallwork Group & moved to the present purpose built site. "Clean" heat treatment equipment was installed and coating capability expanded substantially. The site became the transport hub for the South of England, enabling the group to offer their free transport service to a much wider area.
