Nadcap Merit Programme Making Quality the Cornerstone for Growth

We first became involved with Nadcap back in 2006. Since then we have been steadily extending the coverage and have now completed two audit cycles on the Nadcap Merit programme for the Manchester site.

Aerospace is a world-wide business and Nadcap is acknowledged as the benchmark international quality standard. Certification is achieved and maintained by an annual audit of quality procedures. Auditors look for proof of compliance to quality standards, noting any minor or major non-compliances and providing a limited time frame for rectification before re-audit.

The Merit Programme is available to participants achieving minimal non-compliance reports over two or more successive annual audits. This enables the company to move into an 18 month Nadcap audit cycle and reflects the confidence that Nadcap has that the company is on top of quality issues. Manchester has now completed its second audit under the Merit Programme.

As Peter Carpenter, our CEO explained, “Merit Programme recognition is important because it demonstrates that the leading quality body in the aerospace industry, where quality standards are the highest, recognises that we have made quality procedures part of our culture. It will reassure our customers, not just in aerospace but in other areas of engineering as well, that quality is so much part of the company DNA that they can place product with us for processing with confidence.”

Wallwork also holds Nadcap approval for coating at the Cambridge site. The scope of this is under review and we are planning to extend the Cambridge Nadcap approval to cover heat treatment and vacuum brazing operation in the near future.

In addition to the Nadcap approvals the company has numerous approvals from aerospace primes such as Rolls Royce, BAe Systems, Boeing and Airbus for specific processes.
